  • Can I use Slate products if I don’t identify as a man?

Absolutely! Our products are designed and formulated to help men adopt skincare, but several of our fans are women and gender-nonconforming people. Anyone who wants help creating a skincare habit is invited to try our products.


Habit Tracker Questions

  • What is a Habit Tracker?

Our Habit Tracker is a daily psychological trigger that reminds you to do your skincare. It’s a numbered pad included with every jar of Slate Moisturizer / Aftershave that sticks to your bathroom mirror to help motivate and track your skincare journey. Learn more about our Habit Tracker here.

  • Does the Habit Tracker really work?

Our tests show that you’re twice as likely to develop a lasting skincare habit by using the Habit Tracker! Your own results may vary, but we feel good about your chances.

  • Where should I put my Habit Tracker?

We recommend sticking your Habit Tracker to your bathroom mirror, in plain view when you step out of the shower or brush your teeth. You can also put it on your nightstand.

  • Which surfaces can I stick my Habit Tracker to?

A mirror, glass, stone, plastic, and ceramic are all good surfaces. We recommend avoiding painted walls. Even though the sticky back is designed to be removable, there is a small chance that it can damage the paint on your wall when you remove it.

  • Is Slate Moisturizer / Aftershave paraben-free?

Yes.

  • What ingredients are in Slate Moisturizer / Aftershave?

Slate Moisturizer / Aftershave is made from water, dimethicone, dimethicone crosspolymer, glycerin, cetearyl olivate, polyacrylamide, C13-14 isoparaffin, laureth-7, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, sodium hyaluronate, carbomer, sodium hydroxide, mentha piperita, melaleuca alternifolia, and blue 1.

Each ingredient plays a role in moisturizing, protecting, stabilizing, soothing, or coloring.

  • Is Slate Moisturizer / Aftershave cruelty-free?

Yes. The founder is the only live animal we would ever test on.

  • Does Slate Moisturizer / Aftershave  have any common allergens?

Slate Moisturizer / Aftershave is generally safe to use. If you think you might be allergic to an ingredient in the product, consult a dermatologist before using it.

  •  How do I store my products?

Store your products at room temperature away from direct sunlight, heat, and water. Your bathroom counter or nightstand should work fine.

  • When does Slate Moisturizer / Aftershave expire?

Slate Moisturizer / Aftershave has a shelf life of 2 years.

  • I have a skin condition that is being medicated. Can I still use your products?

Consult your dermatologist before using any skincare products with skin-specific medication.


Usage Questions

  • How often should I moisturize? Is it possible to moisturize too much?

Ideally, you should moisturize twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. It’s possible to over-moisturize, but it’s probably not something you have to worry about if you’re sticking to twice per day.

  • I have oily skin. Do I really need to use moisturizer?

Yes! Oily skin is not the same as hydrated skin. In fact, moisturizer helps reduce excess oil production by regulating water content for your skin. Our products are water-based and quick-absorbing to work effectively for people with oily skin.

  • What’s the best way to see results from your products?

The best way to see results is to use your products every day for at least two weeks. Like working out, it may be hard to notice visual improvements day by day, but things are improving. Pay special attention to the glow of your skin, reduction in excess oil and/or dry patches, changes to under-eye skin, and even the texture of your skin. Also, remember that skincare is preventative, meaning you’re slowing the development of physical signs of aging like wrinkles.

  • When’s the best time to use your products?

The best time to use your moisturizer is immediately after any activity that dries out your face - think showering, washing your face, or shaving. These activities pull moisture from your skin, leaving your body either to stay dry or to produce excess oil in response. This lack of moisture also removes a protective barrier from your skin, inviting bacteria into your pores.

  • How do I correctly apply moisturizer?

With clean hands, take one pump of your Slate moisturizer and gently rub it evenly into your entire face. Any excess moisturizer can be rubbed into your neck. Be extra sure to apply moisturizer to wrinkle-prone areas, like around your eyes and smile lines. Be sure not to get the moisturizer in your eyes or mouth.

  • What should I do if my skin has a bad reaction to a product?

Stop using the product and consider consulting your dermatologist.

  • What payment options are available?

  • Do you ship internationally?

At the moment, we only ship to the US and parts of Canada. Please subscribe to our email list to know when we launch in other countries!

  • How long does it take for your products to arrive?

Generally, it takes 2 weeks for a shipment to arrive. Sometimes there are unexpected factors that make a shipment take longer. If you have questions about a shipment, please email hello@slateformen.com

  • How do I apply discount/promo codes to my order?

Promo codes can be applied at checkout. If you don’t see a field to input a code, that might mean the product you’re purchasing is not eligible for any promos. Reach out to us at hello@slateformen.com if you’re having trouble with your codes.

  • Do you offer military or select occupation discounts?
